Special Education Teacher

Hours per week: 35

Location: New City, NY

Hours: 8:00am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be passionate about supporting preschool students with special needs and creating a positive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and group instruction aligned with students' IEP goals and objectives.
\n
• Develop and implement weekly lesson plans using age-appropriate curriculum and monthly themes.
\n
• Create and maintain a positive classroom environment that supports students' cognitive, social-emotional, and behavioral needs.
\n
• Supervise students and provide direction and support to Teaching Assistants and Teacher's Aides.
\n
• Monitor student progress and prepare quarterly or trimester progress reports.
\n
• Complete annual summaries of student progress and participate in educational assessments as needed.
\n
• Maintain accurate student attendance, health checks, and required documentation, including CPSE Portal records.
\n
• Communicate regularly with parents/guardians and participate in parent conferences and annual review meetings.
\n
• Collaborate with families, related service providers, and school district personnel.
\n
• Utilize technology, including Google Classroom and Google Meet, to support family communication and virtual instruction when needed.
\n
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with all agency policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

\n
• Valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification (PreK-12 or Birth-2).
\n
• Knowledge of special education requirements and practices.
\n
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
\n
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
\n
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.
\n
• Proficiency with computers and relevant educational software.
\n
• Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
